><h3>What\u2019s a core algorithm?<\/h3>\n<p>A series of complex calculations that decide where your website appears, if at all, in Google\u2019s search results.<\/p>\n<h3>Is it a big deal?<\/h3>\n<p>Google makes changes all the time (<a href=\"https:\/\/moz.com\/blog\/how-often-does-google-update-its-algorithm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in one year as many as 9 per day on average<\/a>) and they don\u2019t usually say anything.<\/p>\n<p>When they do make a core update, there\u2019s a big announcement. Followed by much commotion and hoo-hah in the Search Engine Marketing circles.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a sure sign the changes are big ones and potentially rather disruptive.<\/p>\n<h3>Oh really?
